Sunflower oil is the lipid extract obtained from the sunflower seed of the plant, Helianthus annuus L. Sunflower oil is another important edible oil besides palm, soybean and rapeseed oils because the sunflower seed contains approximately 44% of oil and 16% protein, making it an excellent edible oil source (Pilorgé 2020 ).
Is palm olein good for frying?
Matthaus (2007) reported that palm olein was comparable with high oleic vegetable oils and hydrogenated sunflower and cottonseed oils in terms of oxidative stability during frying. Palm oil is resistant to oxidation, polymerization and foaming. Palm oil does not produce any gummy or sticky residues in the fryer.
Where are our edible oils derived from?
Our edible oils are derived from refining crude palm oil, which are obtained from both our own plantations and third-party suppliers, as well as a wide range of oilseeds including soybean, rapeseed, groundnut, sunflower seed, sesame seed and cotton seed.
Can edible oil-based nanomaterials be used in industrial applications?
Before realizing the industrial application of vegetable oils, the abovementioned problems need to be solved in a timely and effective manner. In addition, the preparation of edible oil-based nanomaterials and their synergy with other active ingredients are a focus of future research.
